Welcome to Church.co.uk – the church network of Oasis UK.
Church.co.uk was founded by Rev Steve Chalke. MBE in September 2003 as a central part of Oasis UK.
In partnership with Steve, the Network is led by Wes Sutton, and together with a Network Leadership Team, they seek to build churches that are both different and make a difference, by working out what Oasis believes being a hub for the community really means.
The Church.co.uk ethos
24/7. Holistic. Global.
This is the vision of every church that is part of the Church.co.uk Network. We are talking about church - but probably not quite as you may know it!
The Church.co.uk Network exists to make the life-changing message of Jesus accessible to everyone by demonstrating the reality and relevance of Christian faith in the 21st century.
More specifically, every Church.co.uk church aims to be:
- 24/7 – providing a welcome to everyone whatever their situation, whatever the time, night or day
- Holistic – offering a breadth and depth of support, spiritually and socially, to the whole community and beyond
- Global – serving as the hub for the whole Church.co.uk network as it grows around the UK and the world
What does this mean?
We think that church isn’t just about a meeting on Sunday morning or for weddings and a funeral. We believe that Christian faith has something to say about every aspect of our lives – and not just the religious bits!
That’s why you’ll see churches that are part of the Church.co.uk Network running activities that benefit the whole community. For example, fair trade coffee shops, aerobics classes, youth clubs, parent/carers and children’s groups and a whole lot more.
Sure, a coffee shop may not seem the most revolutionary community initiative, but every church that belongs to the Church.co.uk Network will find different gaps in the community to fill; and in doing so will become a community hub at the heart of it’s local community.
