STOP THE TRAFFIK
People trafficking is one of the worlds fastest growing illegal industries. It is happening right here, right now, on our doorsteps.
At Oasis, we believe people should not be bought or sold. STOP THE TRAFFIK is our repsonse to this appauling trade.
Through STOP THE TRAFFIK , Oasis and our friends aim to increase awareness of this worldwide problem and call for change.
Together we will:
- Prevent the sale of people
- Prosecute the traffickers
- Protect the victims
Around the world we are working with victims of trafficking and are pioneering projects to prevent trafficking happening. Our work in India is a great example of the kind things we are doing. check it out here.
But what can I do?
It's easy to think that one person can't take on a multi-million pound industry and you're probably right. But together we can.
Something we can all do is commit to only buy fairly traded chocolate.
Nearly half the world's chocolate is made from cocoa grown in the Cote D'Ivoire, in Africa. It is estimated that 12,000 children have been trafficked into cocoa farms in Cote D'Ivoire so when we buy chocolate we are being forced to be oppressors ourselves as we have no guarantee that the chocolate we eat is 'traffik free'.
